Location: Mount Laurel, NJ 08054 (Burlington County)

Overview
New Jersey maintains some of the most extensive and continuously evolving weapons regulations in the country. Ongoing judicial determinations, legislative modifications, and directives from the State Attorney General regularly influence how law enforcement officers address weapons violations, apply firearms regulations, and engage with individuals exercising lawful gun ownership rights. This hands-on, scenario-driven training equips law enforcement officers with essential competency to properly understand and enforce New Jersey's weapons laws during field operations.
Course Content
Participants will analyze the legal framework surrounding firearms, bladed weapons, restricted weapons, and other dangerous instruments, while becoming familiar with permitted exceptions, defensive legal arguments, and authorized possession standards that arise during routine police work. The curriculum encompasses permit systems for concealed carry, transportation regulations, restricted zones, assault weapon classifications, high-capacity magazine restrictions, untraceable firearms, and recent statutory modifications impacting law enforcement activities.
Rather than merely presenting statutes, the course utilizes authentic field scenarios, precedent analysis, and examination of recent state and federal judicial rulings to demonstrate practical application. Officers will gain proficiency in evaluating vehicle encounters, investigative stops, street interactions, evidence collection, custody situations, family protection cases, and contacts with lawfully armed individuals. Significant focus is directed toward enabling officers to translate complicated legal concepts into sound, constitutionally compliant practices that can be reliably executed in operational settings.
Upon successful completion, participants will demonstrate the ability to recognize weapons-related criminal behavior, identify lawful ownership and statutory permissions, implement constitutionally appropriate enforcement actions, and document those actions using legally sound written reports.
