Course Description
This specialized training program prepares correctional professionals to effectively serve as Field Training Officers (FTOs) overseeing the development of new correctional staff members. The curriculum is structured around a modified version of the widely respected "San Jose" model, which represents one of the most commonly implemented FTO frameworks throughout the United States corrections system.
Participants will develop the essential knowledge, instructional methods, and practical techniques required to successfully train, assess, and support correctional officers in their professional growth. The program emphasizes fostering professionalism, building confidence, and establishing accountability standards in both training officers and trainees alike, with the ultimate goal of ensuring correctional institutions achieve and maintain optimal operational performance.
While specifically designed for the corrections environment, the instructional principles and methodologies covered in this course have broad applicability to various field training programs found within law enforcement agencies more broadly.
