Mandatory Human Trafficking Curriculum Update

The Connecticut Police Officer Standards and Training Council's Field Services Training Division, in collaboration with the Department of Children and Families and the Department of Consumer Protection Gaming Division, is offering a one-day seminar designed to provide instructors with updated training materials and certification in human trafficking and related topics. Attendees will gain access to the required curriculum necessary for teaching these subject areas.

This training is mandatory for all currently endorsed instructors in Areas 514 and 514A. Instructors holding these endorsements who fail to participate will have their certifications withdrawn effective April 1, 2027, and will lose eligibility to award POST credits in these areas. Additionally, this training represents the sole pathway through which new instructors may become certified to teach or obtain these endorsements.

The seminar takes place at the Connecticut Police Academy, 285 Preston Avenue, Meriden, Connecticut 06450, running from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Multiple session dates are offered in November 2026, each with its own registration closing date approximately two weeks prior. Interested participants should register via the Acadis portal before the applicable deadline for their chosen session.

Class size is capped at twenty-five attendees. There is no tuition charge for this course. Participants may purchase lunch at nearby restaurants. The uniform dress code established by POST In-Service training requirements (General Notice 23-02) will be enforced, and training supervisors are asked to ensure all assigned personnel comply with this requirement.
