OVERVIEW

The Municipal Police Institute offers an intensive three-day budget training program designed to equip law enforcement professionals with the skills needed to develop comprehensive budgets. While prior budgeting experience is beneficial, the course welcomes participants at various levels of expertise. Sessions are delivered via Zoom webinar across three separate Mondays, allowing participants to engage with the material remotely.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Day 1 & 2 (November 2 & 9): Massachusetts Basic Budgeting covers MA General Laws regarding budgeting, MA budgeting and accounting rules, national best practices regarding police budgets, the MA budget process, and MA line item budgeting basics.

Day 3 (November 16): Advanced Budgeting addresses types of budgets including program, performance, and outcomes budgets, budget samples and terminology, the concept of performance, and methods for preparing advanced budgets.
