Course Overview
The Connecticut Police Officer Standards and Training Council's Field Services Training Division is offering a single-day seminar focused on sexual assault investigations. This role-player-based training session takes place on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. at the Connecticut Police Academy located at 285 Preston Avenue, Meriden, Connecticut 06450. Lieutenant Joseph Pangaro (Ret) of Pangaro Training and Management will serve as the instructor.
Course Content
The seminar examines the distinct characteristics of investigating sexual assault cases while working with victims and suspects across all sexual orientations. Participants will develop practical skills in conducting thorough interviews and interrogations, master the legal framework governing these investigations, employ sophisticated investigative methodologies, gather and evaluate evidence with precision, and address allegations that prove unfounded or other complicating case factors.

Logistics
The course accommodates fifty (50) participants. Registration must be completed via the Acadis portal by Tuesday, September 8, 2026. The tuition cost is $75. Attendees may purchase lunch at neighboring restaurants. The uniform dress code outlined in POST In-Service Training General Notice 23-02 applies to this course.
