Police Internal Affairs

This extensive training program is tailored for newly appointed internal affairs officers and supervisors, as well as seasoned professionals seeking to enhance their expertise. The course also welcomes civilian investigators and law enforcement administrators interested in mastering proper internal affairs investigation procedures. Designed to accommodate agencies of all sizes—from small departments to large public safety organizations—this program presents a model-based approach to investigating complaints and misconduct.

Upon completing this course, participants will gain comprehensive knowledge of investigative methodologies and legal frameworks required to execute effective internal affairs investigations. This includes handling cases involving potential criminal conduct and officer-involved shooting incidents.

The curriculum walks attendees through each phase of conducting professional, impartial, and methodical administrative investigations. Special emphasis is placed on investigations into sexual harassment allegations and hostile workplace complaints, along with contemporary interview strategies for complainants, witnesses, and accused personnel.

This course is designed for sworn officers and civilian staff involved in administrative investigations, professional standards units, law enforcement command personnel, and human resources or municipal officials supervising law enforcement or public safety personnel. Enrollment is restricted to authorized law enforcement and public safety personnel.
