Major Case Management

This comprehensive 24-hour course equips law enforcement professionals with essential skills to effectively manage complex major case situations, including multi-incident investigations, cross-jurisdictional cases, mass arrest operations, and similar challenging scenarios.

The training begins by establishing the foundational policies and infrastructure necessary for successful major case operations before critical situations arise. Participants will examine standard major case organizational structures and learn how to implement effective chain of command protocols in both single-agency and multi-agency environments.

The course systematically guides attendees through each phase of major case management, covering initial crisis response, crime scene management, personnel allocation, lead tracking and investigation coordination, inter-agency collaboration, and media relations. Participants will evaluate various operational approaches, including the advantages and disadvantages of 24-hour hotlines, citizen volunteer programs, confidential informant management, special prosecutor assignments, and other support mechanisms.

Throughout the training, instructors address state and federal resources available during major investigations, proper case documentation and reporting procedures, and after-action evaluation and debriefing processes necessary for operational improvement.
