Course Overview

This specialized training addresses a critical issue facing law enforcement and military communities: suicide claims more police officers annually than line-of-duty encounters with assailants, and veterans face similarly alarming suicide statistics. Participants will acquire practical strategies for responding effectively to both populations while developing their own resilience and coping mechanisms. The course emphasizes modernized approaches to mental health conversations and cultural shifts within police organizations, working toward the dual goals of officer safety and veteran support.

Upon completion, attendees will be able to:

  • Recognize the unique challenges veterans encounter during their transition to civilian life
  • Comprehend how Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder develops and manifests in veterans

About the Instructor

Silouan Green is a United States Marine Corps veteran with more than twenty years of experience teaching and speaking nationally on leadership development, peer support systems, PTSD, and mental health initiatives. His expertise has been sought by numerous prestigious organizations including the New York Police Department, Department of Homeland Security, National Association of Hostage Negotiators, California Highway Patrol, Chicago Police Department, Walter Reed Medical Center, multiple university systems, Veterans Administration, and hundreds of law enforcement and sheriff's departments nationwide.

Green's personal journey informs his teaching philosophy. A Vanderbilt University graduate, he accepted a Marine Corps commission and later experienced a severe jet training accident that resulted in spinal injury and the tragic loss of his co-pilot. This trauma led to the development of significant Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Following his medical discharge, Green embarked on a transformative two-year motorcycle journey before committing his career to helping others overcome traumatic experiences. He is the author of three books: "The Ladder UPP," "Who Am I?," and "Sycamore Hill." His teaching is characterized by practical, immediately applicable tools delivered through a perspective that law enforcement professionals consistently find informative and professionally motivating.
