Police Internal Affairs

This extensive 40-hour training program has been developed to serve newly appointed internal affairs officers and supervisors, seasoned professionals seeking to refresh their expertise, civilian investigators in the internal affairs field, and leadership personnel interested in understanding proper investigation protocols. The curriculum accommodates the distinct needs of small, medium, and large law enforcement and public safety organizations through a model procedures framework.

Upon completion, participants will possess the investigative expertise and legal knowledge required to conduct internal affairs investigations professionally and objectively. This includes handling complaints involving potential criminal conduct and officer-involved shooting incidents.

Learning Outcomes: Participants will progress through a comprehensive examination of administrative and internal affairs investigation procedures, including specialized protocols for sexual harassment and hostile workplace complaints. The program covers recent court decisions and industry-standard practices related to complaint processing and investigative procedures, employee protections, workplace technology policies, applicable administrative statutes, and media communication protocols. Advanced interview methodologies designed specifically for complainants, witnesses, and accused officers will be demonstrated and practiced.

  • Officer-involved shooting and in-custody death investigations
  • Body camera policies and procedures
  • Collaborative exercises and participant presentations

Target Audience: This course is intended for sworn and non-sworn law enforcement professionals working in administrative and internal affairs roles, personnel compliance specialists, law enforcement executives and public safety administrators, and human resources or municipal/county management overseeing law enforcement personnel.

Course Schedule: All sessions run from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily. Cost per session is $995.00.
