Course Overview
This comprehensive 16-hour program offers industry-standard five-year armorer certification for law enforcement professionals. Agencies increasingly equip patrol officers, supervisors, and tactical units with carbine rifles, creating a critical need for qualified armorers and range masters to perform regular maintenance and repairs. This course addresses that requirement by providing hands-on training on all M16, AR15, M4, and AR308 type weapon systems and their variants, including semi-automatic and select-fire configurations.
Instruction
The curriculum is taught by FBI and NRA certified instructors, with primary instruction led by Greg Sullivan ("Sully"). - Weapon history and mechanical operation cycles
- Complete disassembly and reassembly procedures
- Component nomenclature and identification
- Inspections, stress analysis, maintenance intervals, and parts replacement schedules
- Accessories and upgrade options
- Cleaning and maintenance protocols
- Timing and suppressor considerations
- Barrel replacement and installation
- Headspace verification, firing pin protrusion, and proper gauging techniques
- Piston and direct gas impingement systems
- Ballistic troubleshooting
- Comprehensive repair and diagnostic procedures
- AR308 platform variants
- Parts interchangeability
- Semi-automatic, full-automatic, and burst trigger systems with conversion methods
Materials and Requirements
All necessary tools, manuals, and instructional materials are provided. Participants must bring their own weapon system to become proficient with their specific configuration and modifications. This also allows time for thorough cleaning, inspection, and any required parts replacement or repairs.
Schedule
The course runs from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM each day with a one-hour lunch break, representing intensive hands-on instruction over two full days.
