Course Overview
This is an advanced negotiation program designed for law enforcement crisis and hostage negotiators who have already completed and passed a 40-hour basic certification course. The comprehensive three-day curriculum combines practical skills development with real-world case studies from the instructor's extensive field experience.
Course Content
Day One: The training begins with a review of foundational active listening techniques alongside advanced negotiation approaches focusing on influence and persuasion tactics. Real debriefings from the instructor's professional background serve as practical learning examples throughout the day.
Day Two: This session delves into advanced strategies for managing negotiations with individuals experiencing various psychiatric conditions, with particular emphasis on those demonstrating personality disorders or deficient empathy. A detailed 15-hour hostage standoff debriefing drawn from the instructor's actual experience provides an in-depth case study.
Day Three: The final day explores enhanced collaboration between Incident Command, SWAT teams, and negotiation personnel. Additional topics include negotiation through text-based communication, kidnapping negotiations, and other specialized advanced subjects as time permits.
