DEFENSIVE TACTICS INSTRUCTOR TRAINING PROGRAM

Hours: 0800-1700 Monday through Friday
Duration: 40 Hours of Continuing Education Units
Cost: $800 per instructor for the complete 5-day course; $180 per day for individual daily enrollment
Certification: Missouri P.O.S.T. Approved and Multi-State Approved
Program Overview
This intensive 5-day instructor certification program provides comprehensive training designed to prepare instructors to teach modern defensive tactics with emphasis on officer survival. The curriculum seamlessly integrates standing and ground techniques, incorporating realistic methodologies grounded in martial arts disciplines, particularly Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, delivered through scientifically-based teaching approaches that optimize learning and retention.
Core Curriculum (Monday-Wednesday)
The foundational portion of the program covers:
- Officer entry techniques for closing gaps and establishing control in non-compliant arrest situations
- Two-officer takedowns using Jiu-Jitsu-based methods with ground control techniques (new for 2026)
- Gross motor skill Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques for managing high-level resistance
- Physics-based wrist, arm, and shoulder locks designed for practical effectiveness
- Standing escort and control methodologies
- Defenses against common attacks including punches, charges, and grabs
- Gross motor skill takedowns such as single-leg, double-leg, and body-fold techniques
- Positioning and manipulating subjects for handcuffing following takedowns
- Joint lock instruction and compliant and non-compliant handcuffing procedures
Elective Courses (Thursday and Friday)
Participants select from the following elective courses offered on Thursday and Friday:
- Core Essentials System (Monday-Wednesday option for some participants)
- Emergency Ground Survival 1 (Thursday) - Highly recommended for first-time attendees without prior ground techniques training or certification
- Close Quarters Control Tactics (Thursday)
- Weapons Retention and Disarming Program (Friday) - Completely updated for 2026

The 2026 curriculum has been completely finalized with a brand new handgun retention program that incorporates current best practices and realistic officer survival scenarios. The program addresses modern law enforcement challenges, including officer defensive strategies against assault while maintaining suspect control.

Students unable to commit to all five days may enroll in individual daily courses at $180 per student per day.
