Police Traffic Laser/RADAR Instructor

This comprehensive program combines instruction in both RADAR and Laser speed measurement technologies, equipping participants with the knowledge and teaching capabilities needed to deliver training on these devices to law enforcement personnel. The course explores the underlying scientific principles governing these tools and demonstrates their proper integration into effective speed enforcement strategies.

Participants will examine multiple aspects of device operation, including calibration and verification procedures, relevant case law, occupational health considerations, and various operational factors. Prerequisites

Florida-based officers are required to have served as a RADAR/Laser operator for no fewer than three years and must have successfully completed the FDLE instructor techniques program prior to enrollment. Officers from other jurisdictions are encouraged to meet these same requirements.

  • Your own Traffic Laser/RADAR unit
  • Laptop computer with USB flash drive capability

Important Notes

For sworn Florida law enforcement personnel, successful completion of this course satisfies the speed measurement training requirement.
