Police Traffic Laser/RADAR Instructor

This comprehensive course is designed to enhance participants' proficiency with both RADAR and Laser speed measurement devices while equipping them with the instructional capabilities needed to deliver training programs on these technologies to law enforcement personnel.

Participants will develop an understanding of the underlying scientific principles that govern these speed measurement systems and learn how to apply them effectively within a comprehensive speed enforcement framework. The curriculum encompasses practical topics including equipment testing and verification procedures, relevant case law, health and safety considerations, and critical operational factors.

The course features hands-on experience with multiple equipment models representing current technology advancements in the industry. Instructional practice sessions reinforce the importance of thorough operator competency and mastery of equipment functions.

Intended Audience

This course is appropriate for police RADAR operators, law enforcement supervisors, military police personnel, and police criminal justice educators.

Prerequisites

Florida officers must have a minimum of three years of experience as a RADAR/Laser operator and must have successfully completed the FDLE instructor techniques courses before enrolling. This background is also recommended for officers from other jurisdictions.
