About Us

Our community is 64 square miles in area, which consists of 7 miles of beaches. We are spread out having federal and state protected estuaries adjacent to our beaches; while most of our population is nearest the beach, we have grown rapidly in what use to be the rural part of town. We have major arteries through our town such as Route 1, Interstate 95, Routes 9 and 109. We are 25 minutes from Portland, ME and Portsmouth, NH. Additionally, we have also have a Amtrak Downeaster stop with service direct to Boston. We have a significant seasonal influx in population going from 12,000 year round residents to 50,000 in the height of summer.
