About the Topsham Police Department

Topsham Police Department

The Topsham Police Department has 17 sworn officers providing law enforcement services to a population of approximately 8,850 people on a 24-hour basis. The Town of Topsham covers an area of roughly 35 square miles. Officers in the Patrol Division respond to calls for service requests throughout the communities many residential and business districts. Officers also patrol over approximately 100 miles of roads to proactively deter criminal activity and violations of law. The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) actively investigates all crimes, and suspicious activity that may lead to a crime, within our community. Our CID works cooperatively with the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency (MDEA) in efforts to address the continuing infiltration of illegal drugs. The department also provides a School Resource Officer to our high school campus, and an officer that splits their duties between both Traffic Safety and Animal Control. All officers work within the community policing philosophy to keep our community safe and take appropriate enforcement action when violations of law occur.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Topsham Police Department is “To Preserve Safety and Security Within our Community”. This mission is completed while following our core values of “Integrity, Service, and Accountability”.
