Spring Township Police Department

The Spring Township Police Department (STPD) is authorized for a complement of ten sworn officers. The department currently operates on a 10-hour patrol schedule and is structured with a Chief of Police, a Sergeant position (currently vacant), a Detective, a School Resource Officer (SRO), and six patrol officers.

STPD maintains state-of-the-art equipment, an on-site fitness facility, and offers competitive wages and benefits. Officers have opportunities to serve in a wide range of specialized assignments, including:

STPD is a community-focused agency, committed to building strong, positive relationships with the residents we serve. We proudly host the county-wide National Night Out, participate in the Centre County Citizens’ Police Academy, provide community safety education, and maintain a regular presence in our schools. We also employ a full-time School Resource Officer at the Central Pennsylvania Institute of Science and Technology (CPI).

About Us:

Spring Township is a growing and historic community located in Centre County and is part of the State College Metropolitan Statistical Area. First settled in 1772 and incorporated in 1795, it surrounds the county seat of Bellefonte and includes the communities of Pleasant Gap, Axemann, Coleville, and portions of Zion. The township covers approximately 27 square miles and continues to see steady population growth, reaching approximately 9,000 residents. It blends historic character with modern development, making it a dynamic and stable place to work and live.
