The Richmond Police Department provides law enforcement services to the Town of Richmond, Rhode Island, comprised of 40-square-miles of land area and approximately 8,000 residents. This site was created to familiarize residents and visitors with the Richmond Police Department's personnel, activity, and to provide useful information through it's content and associated links.
The Richmond Police Department completed it's 2015 Police Officer Recruitment Process, and hired one (1) new officer, Patrolman Brock Taylor, after he successfully completed a rigorous 20-week law enforcement training program at the Rhode Island Municipal Police Training Academy. Patrolman Taylor was sworn-in at Town Hall on May 24th, 2016, and began his Field Training Program that same day. The Department currently has a total of fourteen (14) full-time sworn police officers (which includes the Chief of Police).
The Department is also staffed with one (1) full-time Animal Control officer, three (3) full-time dispatchers, one (1) full-time administrative assistant, and several part-time Animal Control and Dispatch personnel.

The Richmond Police Department shall forge reliable partnerships with all local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies in order to maintain effective communication and collaboration to ensure the best possible protection to the people in Richmond and their respective property.
