SPECIAL 2 POLICE OFFICER
The Hackensack Police Department is currently accepting resumes for the position of Special 2 Police Officer.
The Special 2 program offers a way to start a career with the Hackensack Police Department, with a chance to transition to a full-time officer. The candidate will attend the Police Academy, with a sponsorship from the Hackensack Police Department.
Applicants will be subject to an extensive background investigation including the review of all employment records. Applicants must also submit to and pass both a medical and psychological evaluation. The Hackensack Police Department is an accredited agency. Special 2 Officers supplement Patrol Officers and will receive training, equivalent to that of a full-time Police Officer.
Applicants must be physically fit and pay their own way through the police academy, which is approximately $5,000. Prior to being hired, the applicant will be required to pass the pre-assessment for the Police Academy. Upon completion of the police academy, they will have a full PTC certification. Hackensack offers the ability to transition from SLEO2 to Full-Time police officer, upon availability and personnel requirements. Per PTC regulation, applicants must remain with the Hackensack Police Department for a minimum of 1-year, post-graduation.
