The Upper Makefield Township Police Department is comprised of 18 sworn officers who provide 24-hour protection of life and property within Upper Makefield Township 7 days a week. The Department patrols roadways, investigates crime, enforces traffic regulations, and responds to a variety of requests for assistance from the community. The Upper Makefield Township Police Department is accredited by the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association and is organized into 3 major divisions.
Patrol Division
The patrol division is the first contact citizens have when requesting police assistance. Uniformed patrol officers are responsible for traffic enforcement, accident investigations, and emergency responses to all calls.
Detective Division
The detective division is in charge of criminal investigations, forensics, drug investigations, intelligence, evidence management, background checks, and juvenile crime investigations.
Community Policing Division
Officers in this division focus on crime prevention and youth-oriented and community-based initiatives. The aim of the school-based D.A.R.E. program is to prevent drug and alcohol abuse, the Youth Aid Panel is a joint program of 3 police departments aimed at problem solving, restitution, and community service solutions; and our Coffee With A Cop events offer opportunities for residents to meet our officers in an informal setting.
Specialty Units
Upper Makefield’s officers have special training for the following Specialty Units: Animal Control, Crisis Intervention Team, Criminal Investigations Unit, Special Response Team, Truck Enforcement Task Force and Accident Reconstruction.
D.A.R.E.
Specially-trained Upper Makefield Township Police officers teach the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) curriculum at Sol Feinstone Elementary School in Upper Makefield Township.
