Substitute Crossing Guard

 

SUBSTITUTE CROSSING GUARD GENERAL JOB CONDITIONS

 

  1. This is a part-time position with no benefits.
  2. A substitute guard fills in whenever a regular guard is not available.
  3. Your hours of work and the post that you cover will vary according to need. You can expect to work approximately 3.5 hours per day when you are called.  The posts call for a morning and afternoon shift. You will have time off between tours of duty.
  4. You must complete a training period. You will work full time during this period and you will be assigned to work each post so that you become familiar with each one.
  5. You will usually receive short notice when you are needed for work.
  6. You will be one of two substitutes and the work will be divided equally. We cannot guarantee you a minimum amount of hours per week.
  7. You will be required to be outside in extreme weather conditions. Please consider this fact carefully.
  8. As a substitute, you will receive an initial clothing issue and thereafter a clothing allowance each year.
  9. Full time positions that become available are offered to the substitute guards first.
  10. Your hourly rate at this time is $15.00. This is subject to change as a result of contract negotiations.
