Full-Time OR Part-Time
Starting pay is $17.50 - $19.90 based on experience
40 HRS/WEEK
Minimum Acceptable Characteristics:
- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must pass all LCSO general employment requirements.
- Must be able to work 1st and 2nd shifts, Holidays and weekends, with regular and on time attendance.
- Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation & storage.
- Skill in operation of kitchen equipment.
- Able to prepare all types of meals.
- Must be comfortable working with inmates.
- Able to follow instructions.
- Able to read and follow recipes and cooking instructions.
- Able to stand for long periods of time.
- Able to withstand varying temperatures (freezers, hot ovens, etc).
- Must have general knowledge of the operations of the Sheriff's Office.
Job Duties in Order of Importance:
| 50% | MEAL PREPARATION: | |||||||||
| Operates standard kitchen equipment to cook food. | ||||||||||
|
Makes salads, deserts, dressings, etc.; prepares hot & cold beverages; cut, chops and cuts foods in preparation for cooking.
|
||||||||||
|
Sets up food lines; portions food; sets up trays & carts; packs food for delivery to inmates and for storage.
|
||||||||||
| 20% | CLEANING AND STORAGE: | |||||||||
|
Cleans work areas, equipment and utensils using approved chemicals and cleaners.
|
||||||||||
|
Ensures all utensils, equipment and supplies are accounted for at completion of daily meal preparation.
|
||||||||||
| Monitor refrigeration units to ensure proper temperatures. | ||||||||||
| 20% | SPECIAL DIETS: | |||||||||
|
Prepares medically required meal alterations as indicated by medical staff.

COMPLETES REQUIRED PAPERWORK:

|||||||||
| Prepares meal tally. | ||||||||||
| Conducts meal service roster check. | ||||||||||
| 5% | Performs all other duties as assigned. | |||||||||
