Animal Care Specialist - Part Time
GENERAL DUTIES
An Animal Care Specialist within an Animal Control Unit is a dedicated professional primarily responsible for the daily care and well-being of animals held in impoundment. In this role, specialists meticulously attend to the needs of impounded animals, ensuring their health, safety, and overall welfare.
Daily responsibilities include feeding animals according to their specific dietary requirements, providing necessary medical care, and maintaining clean and comfortable living environments within the facilities. Additionally, specialists engage in behavioral observations to monitor the adjustment and demeanor of impounded animals, implementing enrichment activities to promote mental stimulation and alleviate stress.
The role demands a compassionate approach, as specialists strive to create a positive and supportive atmosphere for animals awaiting potential adoption or resolution of their legal status. Effective communication and collaboration with other animal care professionals and veterinary staff are crucial to address the unique needs of each impounded animal, ultimately contributing to their well-being during their stay in the animal control facility.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
The Excelsior Springs Police Department offers a starting hourly rate of $16.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be 18 years of age and a U. S. citizen or lawfully authorized alien worker.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Ability to pass a physical exam and drug test.
- Willingness to work holidays and weekends.
