CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATOR

The City of Conway is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Crime Scene Investigator.  This position supervises crime scene procedures and all personnel involved in crime scene examination. Processes all evidence at crime scenes in the City of Conway to include but not limited to: searching for evidence, photographing, collecting, preserving, packaging and marking for identification; transferring evidence to appropriate laboratory; processing for fingerprints and trace evidence such as hairs, fibers, paint chips, etc.; completes and submits final crime scene reports, completes and submits investigative and other reports. Develop and maintain accurate and up-to-date filing systems.  Reports directly to the Detective Sergeant.

Minimum Experience and Training:

Requires an associate's degree in criminal justice, management, business administration or a related field is preferred and five years of law enforcement experience, with at least one year of experience as a criminal investigator or related field, with additional training in criminal investigations preferred, or any equivalent combination of training, education and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and experience. Must have an above-average understanding and knowledge of community policing, problem-solving and total quality management and experience.  Must possess a valid South Carolina driver's license; Basic Law Enforcement Certificate; Basic Detective I Certificate (within 1-year of appointment);Basic Crime Scene Investigator Certificate (within 1-year of appointment); Basic Incident Command Certification.  May be required to obtain other technical or professional certifications as deemed necessary by supervisor and/or by Chief of Police.

Salary:

Entry Level pay for this position is $42,071.00
