NOW HIRING
CLASS III SPECIAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER (SLEO III)
The Clinton Township Police Department is accepting applications for the position of Class III Special Law Enforcement Office (SLEO III). The Class III Special Law Enforcement Officer, under the direction of the Chief of Police, performs school safety and security duties within the Clinton Township School District.
ABOUT THE POSITION
SLEO III Officers are responsible for promoting a safe and secure learning environment through proactive engagement, visible presence, and rapid response to incidents within school facilities and on school grounds.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential functions include, but are not limited to:
- Enforcing laws and department policies
- Conducting patrols and monitoring school property
- Responding to emergencies and routine incidents
- Investigating incidents and documenting reports
- Interacting professionally with students, staff, and the community
- Performing other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be 21 years of age at the time of appointment
- U.S. Citizen
- New Jersey resident
- Possess a high school diploma or GED
- Possess or be eligible for a New Jersey PTC Basic Police Certificate
- Possess or be eligible for a New Jersey SLEO III Certification
- Successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation, medical examination, psychological evaluation and drug screening
- Possess a valid New Jersey Driver's License
- Must be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position

REQUIREMENTS
- Be capable of passing firearms qualifications as mandated by the N.J Attorney General Guidelines
- Any offer of employment is contingent upon passing all pre-employment screenings
- Applicants must provide a letter of good standing from Chief of Police/Officer in Command of the agency they retired from, including dates of employment, type of retirement, and good standing status (if applicable)
SELECTION PROCESS
The selection process may include:
- Written Examination
- Oral Interview
- Background Investigation
- Medical examination
- Psychological evaluation
- Drug screening
The order and content of the selection process may be modified at the discretion of the Department.
