The North Wildwood Police Department is currently seeking mature adults looking for employment opportunities in positions related to the field of criminal justice. NWPD is extremely proud to be the starting point for many current Police Officers who began their training in North Wildwood and went on to careers in many areas of law enforcement throughout the entire country.

The City of North Wildwood is one of the most popular summer shore vacation destinations at the Jersey Shore. With the World-Famous Boardwalk and a large active entertainment district, the City covers an area of 1.8 square miles along the southern New Jersey coast located in Cape May County which is a part of land identified as “Five Mile Beach”.

The North Wildwood Police Department protects & serves a population of 4,000 full-time residents and over 9 million visitors to The Wildwood Island yearly. NORTH WILDWOOD POLICE
As expected with the expanded seasonal population, our town sees a spike in motor vehicle violations, drug offenses, as well as criminal and other offenses. These challenges and more are what the seasonal officers of North Wildwood will handle while patrolling the street, boardwalk, beach, and entertainment district.
POSITIONS AVAILABLE
Due to the tremendous influx of visitors the North Wildwood Police Department annually fills positions in the following job categories:
- SLEO Class II – (35)
- SLEO Class I – (15)
- Seasonal Dispatcher – (4)
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS & PROCESS
Special Law Enforcement Officers (SLEO II) are authorized to exercise full police powers and duties similar to those of a permanent, regularly appointed full-time police officer. Applicants for SLEO II employment must be able to perform the essential functions of police work and are subject to a background investigation that will include a criminal history, driver’s license check, physical fitness & mental health testing, and reference checks. Drug testing will also be held prior to and/or during academy training. SLEO II Police Academy training is held twice a year, in the spring and winter months. Upon graduation, students will be issued a PTC Class Two Special Law Enforcement Officer Certification.
