We, the members of the New London Police Department, are committed to providing the highest quality of police services. By empowering our personnel to work in partnership with the community toward a goal of improving the quality of life within the city of New London through preserving peace, reducing fear and providing for an overall safe environment, the department protects the rights and dignity of all citizens with professionalism and compassion.

The New London Police Department consists of three major divisions, each with their own unique and important operations to support the overall goals of the Police Department.

SERVING OUR COMMUNITY
The City of New London is a small vibrant city that offers a unique range of cultural, historical, recreational, and educational amenities that make the city a wonderful place to live and work. The city contains a variety of commercial areas combined with a collection of intimate residential neighborhoods, a lively downtown, and a revitalized waterfront. Concentrated in a compact area of approximately six square miles with a population of slightly more than 25,000 residents, the city contains an extraordinary variety of attractions.
NLPD is a full-service police agency with career opportunities to satisfy a variety of interests. Some officers love serving their community as patrol officers on the streets, but it's also not unusual for an officer at NLPD to move into a specialty position early in their career.
Whether it’s solving tough cases as a detective, engaging the community as a member of the bike patrol, working with a four-legged partner as a canine officer, or contributing to the department’s mission in one of our many other specialties, you’ll be part of a team that can handle any of our community’s law enforcement needs.
