New Jersey State Park Police

The New Jersey State Park Police were established on Nov. 26, 2005, from the reorganization of the New Jersey State Park Rangers. The change reflected a shift in the department’s structure while maintaining its commitment to protecting the state’s 41 state parks, 11 state forests, five recreation areas, 50+ historic sites and 100+ Natural Lands Trust preserves, and all who visit them.

It is the mission of the New Jersey State Park Police to protect the Natural Resources and Historic Treasures of our State's Parks, Forests and Historic Sites and the safety, security and well-being of all who visit them.

About Us

Covering 454,000+ acres and serving more than 17 million visitors annually, the State Park Police are a premier law enforcement agency. They operate under the Department of Environmental Protection’s State Parks, Forests & Historic Sites program.
