ABOUT OUR DEPARTMENT
The Madison Police Department, comprised of 28 sworn officers, 4 Dispatchers, 1 Parking Enforcement personnel, 2 Confidential Secretaries, 1 Records Clerk and the Auxiliary Police, is responsible for the safety and protection of its citizens. Comprised of four divisions, Patrol Division, Investigative Division, Traffic Safety Division and the Emergency Service Unit, the Police Department responds to all calls for assistance, including fire and emergency medical assistance, and Homeland Security concerns. The Police Department serves as the public answering point for all 9-1-1 calls within the Borough of Madison. Whenever a resident calls 9-1-1, the telephone will be answered by Madison Police personnel who will then dispatch the associated emergency response units. The Police Department responds to all 9-1-1 emergencies. The Madison Police Department also works alongside Project Community Pride of Southeast Morris County. This is a youth diversion and counseling program, which encompasses Madison, Chatham Borough and Florham Park. This program currently has available social and bilingual social workers to assist the youth and families in these communities whenever a crisis may occur in the household or when youth are involved with law enforcement. It is used as a diversion program from the county criminal justice system.
