The Special Officer Class I is certified by the New Jersey Police Training Commission. Officers complete an 80-hour course which provides training in baton, handcuffing, defensive tactics, disorderly person's offences, first aid, use of force, various patrol concepts, and ethics. Upon graduation, the student will be a PTC certified Class One Special Law Enforcement Officer.
This hiring process is for the Basic Course for SLEO I Officers. The training program is scheduled for May 2023.
Applicants must comply with the following basic qualification standards:
A positive drug test will result in the following:
-Dropped from consideration for employment
-Report to the Central Drug Registry maintained by the New Jersey State Police
-Preclude the applicant from being considered for future law enforcement employment for a period of two (2) years form the date of testing
-If currently a sworn law enforcement officer, notification to his/her agency and you will be terminated from employment and permanently barred from future law enforcement employment in New Jersey.
*Refusal to submit to a drug test shall result in no longer being considered for law enforcement
