Voorhees Police Department
Police Officer
The Voorhees Township Police Department is accepting resumes for the position of Police Officer. We are seeking hard-working, dedicated and energetic individuals for our police department. The Voorhees Township Police Department is an Accredited Agency whose members are community oriented and who take pride in their proactive approach to crime, and quality of life issues. We currently employ 56 Full Time Police Officers, 14 Special Law Enforcement Officers (SLEO II and SLEO III), 10 Crossing Guards and 10 Civilian Employees. Our department is organized into two divisions: Administrative and Operations, and Five Bureaus: Investigations , Patrol, Training, Community Affairs and Administration. Additionally, we offer various specialized assignments to include: Honor Guard, Firearms Unit, SRT, Traffic Unit, Social Media Unit, Detective, K-9 Officers, Bike Patrol, Crime Scene Technicians, School Resource Officers, and the Drone Unit. We offer a competitive salary, excellent equipment and some of the best training in the State of New Jersey.
Required Qualifications:
- Applicants must be enrolled in or have graduated from a PTC-Certified NJ Police Academy Alternate Route Program and not be currently employed by another police department.
- Applicants must be PTC-Certified as a Special Law Enforcement Officer Class II (SLEO II) with a certification from the New Jersey PTC. SLEO II certified candidates must be eligible for a waiver.
- Applicants who have not attended a PTC-Certified NJ Police Academy are also eligible to apply. These individuals must be at least 18 years of age, be of good moral character and able to attend and graduate from a PTC- Certified NJ Police Academy.
Additional Requirements:
- Must possess a High School Diploma or GED
- Must be 18 years of age and less than 35 years of age at time of appointment;
- Must be a resident of New Jersey and citizen of the United States;
- Must possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license;
- Applicants must be of good moral and ethical character.
- Must not have been convicted of any criminal offense or offenses involving moral depravity.
Hiring Process:
- Detailed application;
- Initial oral interview process;
- Command level interview process with Voorhees Police Administration;
- Complete and pass an extensive background investigation;
- Complete and pass a psychological and medical examination to include a drug screening test.
