BCPO Certified or Alternate Route Candidate
The South River Police Department is accepting applications for the position of full-time Police Officer. Applicants must have a Basic Course for Police Officers (BCPO) certification issued by the New Jersey Police Training Commission (NJPTC) or be enrolled as a BCPO alternate route candidate in a certified police academy approved by the NJPTC.
The Borough of South River has a long history extending back before the Revolution to 1683. Originally named Washington, South River was once part of East Brunswick Township. On February 28, 1898 South River detached and officially became a borough. Due to a quickly growing population and need for service the South River Police Department was formed in 1917. Located in central Middlesex County, NJ South River is an ethnically diverse and eclectic community with a quaint downtown area with restaurants, shops and eateries. More than16,000 residents call South River their home and its total area encompasses 2.94 square miles. South River is bordered by East Brunswick Township and Sayreville Borough.

- Salary Range: $59,226 - $147,655

Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be a resident of the State of New Jersey
- Must be a United States Citizen
- Must possess a valid New Jersey Driver License in good standing
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age and not over 35 years of age
- Must possess a minimum of a high school diploma or a GED equivalent
- Must be able to pass an extensive background examination
- Must pass an oral examination
- Must pass a medical exam and have a doctor completed Medical Certification
- Must pass a psychological exam
- Must pass a drug test as per Attorney General’s Law Enforcement Drug Testing Policy
