LEONIA POLICE DEPARTMENT
IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR
POLICE OFFICER
THE LEONIA POLICE DEPARTMENT is currently accepting applications for the position of full-time police officer. The deadline for applications is March 8, 2024. For any questions related to this position, please email D/Sgt Mike Jennings at mjennings@leonianj.gov
SALARY
Starting- $44,595 (Academy rate) or $52,958 (PTC Certified). 2024 top base pay for police officer: $150,505.
ABOUT THE BOROUGH of LEONIA
- Population 9,200
- Approximately 10,000 calls for service annually
- Located approximately one mile from the George Washington Bridge
- All officers in the department possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree
- Currently authorized for 20 sworn police officers
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be a resident of New Jersey and a citizen of the United States
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited 4 year College
- Read, write and speak English
- Be of good moral character and free of conviction of any crime constituting an indictable offense or any crime or offense involving moral turpitude
- Must pass an oral, medical exam, psychological, medical and drug testing examinations and meet essential job functions.
- Possess a valid NJ driver's license
- Meet the requirements of and be eligible for membership in the PFRS
TESTING REQUIREMENTS
- Panel interviews by Command Staff of the Police Department, Police Committee and Mayor (3 separate interviews).
