Bedminster Township - Class II Special (Retired Ofc For Municipal Court Security)

The Bedminster Township Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Class II Special Law Enforcement Officer (SLEO II) to work security at Bedminster Township's Joint Municipal Court. All equipment and training is provided with an hourly rate of $32.75 per hour. Municipal Court is held every Tuesday and Thursday, usually from 0830-1300(+/-).

The position is primarily for Municipal Court but SLEO II officers are also eligible to work special events such as parades, school functions etc. They are also eligible to work extra duty assignments (traffic/security jobs) when not filled by full-time officers ($90 per hr).

We are looking for recently retired officers who have been separated from their prior department for less than 3 years, have retired in good standing, have a Class II certification or will be able to get a PTC waiver.

Minimum Qualifications
The applicant must:
· Be a citizen of the United States.
· Be a retired law enforcement officer, who served as a duly qualified, fully-trained, full-time officer in any municipality or county of this State or as a member of the New Jersey State Police, and was separated from that prior service in good standing, within 3 years of appointment to this position.
· Be a resident of the State of New Jersey during his or her term of appointment to this position.
· Be sound in body and good health.
· Be of good moral character and must not have been convicted of any offense involving dishonesty or which would make the applicant unfit to perform his or her duties.
· Be physically capable of performing the functions of the position in accordance with the Police Training Commission (PTC).
· Possess a New Jersey Police Training Commission Basic Police Officer Certification or New Jersey State Police Academy Certification.
· Possess a valid New Jersey driver's license.
· Be able to read, write and speak the English language well and intelligently and has a high school diploma or its equivalent.
· Successfully pass a background investigation to include a medical exam, drug screen and psychological exam.
· Have a Class II Special certification or can obtain a PTC waiver.
