MT. ARLINGTON BOROUGH POLICE DEPARTMENT
HIRING ANNOUNCEMENT - PATROL OFFICER
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
In order to be eligible for this process, applicants must meet the following standards:
- Be a citizen of the United States.
- Be a resident of New Jersey.
- Be not more than 35 years or less than 18 years of age, except as otherwise provided by law.
- Be sound of body and mind and of good health, sufficient to satisfy the Board of Trustees of the Police and Firemen's Retirement System of New Jersey that he or she is eligible for membership in the retirement system.
- Be able to read, write and speak the English language well and intelligently.
- Be of good moral character and not have been convicted of an indictable offense or of a crime involving moral turpitude.
- Submit to an oral examination to be in accordance with the Rules and Regulations for the governance of the Borough's Police Department.
- Has earned an Associate's Degree, or at least 60 college credits from an accredited college or university, with a concentration in police science, public safety administration, political science, criminal justice or a related field prior to the date of appointment.
- Currently PTC Certified, Alternate Route Graduate or be enrolled in a New Jersey State Police Academy as an alternate route candidate on or before July 31, 2026. Currently One (1) position available.
