The Nutley Police Department is currently accepting resumes for the position of full-time Police Officers from qualified New Jersey residents, who DO NOT possess a NJ PTC Certification. The hiring process includes an extensive background investigation, drug screening, oral interview, medical examination, and psychological evaluation upon conditional appointment. 

Candidates will also be REQUIRED to attend and graduate from a NJ Police Academy, Basic Course for Police Officers. Nutley PD will sponsor your admittance. 

Applicants who meet the below listed Nutley Police Department Minimum Application Requirements can apply: 

Criteria:

• Not a PTC licensed Police Officer  (this includes Corrections and SLEO II officers)  
• Possesses a high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
• 35 years of age or younger at the date of hiring
• Candidates must attach their Resume with a cover letter to this announcement.
• Candidates must be a resident of the state of New Jersey for not less than six months at the time of application and must be a citizen of the United States.
• Candidates must have a current and valid New Jersey Drivers's License.
• Candidates must have a good reputation and be of sound moral character. Any conviction for an indictable offense or other crimes or offenses is subject to evaluation during our background investigation.

Starting Salary: $43,704.05 - $125,268.00

This announcement is strictly for individuals who are NOT certified full time police officers!

Any applicants who are certified police officers are NOT eligible to apply for this specific posting and any such application received will be discarded. 

NOTE: This announcement will close on 7/20/25. We have scheduled a written exam for July 24th, 2025, check in time is between 4:30pm and 5:30pm. If you are selected to take the written test you will be notified by 7/21/25 and will need confirm you will be attending. If you pass the written exam there will be a physical test either 8/16 or 8/23 the time and location to be determined and candidates will be notified in advance. You will need to provide a valid NJ photo driver’s license (no other form of ID will be accepted) for both the written and physical tests.
