PLAINFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT NOW HIRING 

FULL-TIME POLICE DISPATCHER

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This is a highly responsible position looking for a Full-Time Dispatcher with available shifts of Days 0700-1500 and Midnight Shift 2300-0700 Monday through Friday, weekends and holidays off.  Plainfield Police Dispatchers are telecommunicators that dispatch police officers only.  Our dispatchers are also responsible for clerical work.  Candidates should have excellent interpersonal skills, basic computer skills, and must be able to multitask. Dispatchers may be subject to order ins to fill open shifts

Minimum Requirements 

• High School Diploma
• 18 Years old or older
• Citizen of the United States
• Valid Motor Vehicle Operators License (Must be uploaded with application)
• Absolutely:
  • "NO" Felony Convictions
  • "NO" Domestic Violence Convictions
  • "NO" A and/or B Misdemeanor Convictions
• Successfully Pass an Extensive Background Investigation
• Substances Screening

Essential Duties:

--Receive and route emergency/non-emergency telephone calls
--Enter data into cad system
--Receive and transmit information to Motor Vehicle Departments and to National Crime Information System
--Monitor police radio and dispatch officers to complaints
--Speak with and direct walk-in complaints
--Monitor Prisoners
--Provide information to the general public
