GENERAL DUTIES

This is a highly responsible role in the Town of East Lyme conducting specific police work in protecting life and property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances in a diligent, dependable, honest, and competent manner.  Patrol Officers perform work often under emergency situations. The position requires independent judgment, discretion, initiative, maturity, observation, and communication skills.

The East Lyme Police Department is comprised of 24 sworn full time police officers and 1 part time police officer. We take pride in providing exceptional police service to the community that we serve.  East Lyme is a town of approximately 19,000 residents in about 42 square miles,  comprised the villages of  Niantic (a shoreline community) and Flanders. The East Lyme Police Department has much to offer those interested in a law enforcement career. The department maintains a K-9 unit, a marine patrol, a detective division, bike and ATV patrol, and much more.
