The Town of Monroe is accepting applications for the position of Dispatcher. Interested candidates should apply, preference will be given to candidates having prior or current certification as a Telecommunicator and/or prior COLLECT certifications. A strong working knowledge of CAD/RMS systems is desirable and the ability to multi-task between phone, radio and computer is essential. Candidates should have excellent interpersonal skills, customer service abilities and be willing to work a variety of shifts in a 365/24/7 communications center.

$45,655 - $51,419 3-7yrs $3,000 stipend - 8yrs plus - $5,000
The hiring of a police dispatcher is a multiple phase process. Generally, it includes the following:
1. Application (online)
2. Written Exam and/or Dispatch Simulator Exam
3. Oral Interview Panel
4. Personal History Questionnaire
5. Background Investigation
6. Medical Exam/Drug Testing
7. Chief's Interview
Minimal requirement of High School diploma or equivalent, as well as good communication skills are required. Computer and phone skills combined with the ability to multitask are a must. Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality.
Must be eligible to become NCIC certified and obtain a State of Connecticut Public Safety Telecommunications Certificate.
Must be 21 years of age by hire date.
The employee must conform to all Occupational Safety and Health Act regulations. The employee is required to use safety in the performance of their job. The working environment can be very stressful.
Five consecutive days on-duty with two consecutive days off, followed by five consecutive days on-duty with three consecutive days off (5-2 - 5/3). Weekends, Holidays and over-night shifts are mandatory.
