Entry Level Officers
The Town of Windsor is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer.

Our Department
The Windsor Police Department is comprised of approximately 68 employees; 54 sworn officers and 14 civilians and dispatchers. The community they serve is nearly 30 square miles with a population of over 29,000 citizens. Salary and Benefits
The Entry Level starting salary for this position is $71,904 (current salary range is $71,904 - $95,941). The Certified/Lateral salary will be determined based on experience. We provide an excellent benefits package including a defined benefit pension plan through CMERS. Other benefits include:

Minimum Requirements
At date of hire the applicant must be:
- a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- at least 21 years of age
- have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- have an Associate’s Degree or equivalency (60 credit hours) at an accredited college/university; or four years active military experience; or state certified police officer; or any equivalent combination of education and experience
- pass a criminal background check.
- Motivation, enthusiasm, and a commitment to the community are a must.
Criminal Convictions: Candidates must have no criminal record revealing any conviction, under federal or state law, or any felony, or any conviction of any Class A or Class B misdemeanor, or of any crime in any other jurisdiction that would if committed in this state, constitute a Class A or Class B misdemeanor, or any act which would constitute perjury or false statements. All other criminal records will be evaluated during the background investigation.
Our Process
The hiring process has several phases. Each phase must be passed to move on to the next step. Generally, it includes the following:
- In order to submit an application for employment at the Windsor Police Department, applicants must apply to take a written test through Police App. After taking and passing the written test, you will be able to submit an application to for Windsor PD.
- Once you submit your application, you will be contacted to schedule a Physical Agility test that will be administered by an officer from the Windsor PD. In lieu of taking an agility test, we will accept a CHIP Card (at 40%). Follow this link (chip-inc.com) for information about how to obtain a CHIP card.
- Oral Interview Panel
- Background Investigation
- Polygraph Examination
- Psychological Evaluation
- Physical Exam and Drug Screen
- Interview with Chief of Police
Successful candidate will be required to pass the certification-training program at the Police Academy and the Windsor Police Department’s Field Training Program.
