The Town of Windham is seeking intelligent, motivated applicants for the position of Police Officer. The Town offers a competitive salary and benefits package. The position requires shift work, including nights, weekends and holidays.
ABOUT OUR DEPARTMENT
Windham Police Department is a full-time police agency located in the southeast region of New Hampshire consisting of 21 full-time sworn officers. Our 24 hour dispatch center is staffed by 4 full-time and 1 part-time dispatcher. Windham Police offers multiple specialty positions which include: Detective, School Resource Officer, Drug Recognition Expert, Regional SWAT Team, Response to Resistance Instructor, Field Training Officer and many more.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
The police officer shall be responsible for the enforcement of the applicable laws of the State of New Hampshire and applicable ordinances of the Town of Windham. Officers patrol the Town of Windham by foot or cruiser, enforce traffic laws, investigate and report criminal acts when discovered, investigate accidents, file appropriate reports as prescribed by Departmental Rules, Regulations, Procedures, and/or superior officers, and testify in court proceedings. Officers are also responsible for other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Every applicant must be a citizen of the United States.
- Shall be at least 21 years of age by the date of appointment.
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent meeting NH Standards.
- Must not have any physical, mental, and/or medical impairments which would interfere with the ability to perform the essential functions of a police officer.
- Persons applying shall be of good moral character.
- Shall not have a criminal record or serious motor vehicle record.
- Meet all qualifying standards as set forth by the New Hampshire Police Standards and Training Council.
