MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum age of 20 years old by start of academy program, turning 21 years old by the end of the academy program
High school diploma / GED
Be able to effectively communicate information orally and written - THE USE OF AI TO GENERATE THE PERSONAL ESSAY PORTION OF THE APPLICATION WILL RESULT IN TERMINATION OF YOUR APPLICATION
Excellent physical and mental condition, successfully passing physical examination and psychological examination.
Must reside in one of the following Florida counties to be considered for this position:
- Sumter County
- Lake County
- Marion County
- Citrus County
- Hernando County

About This Position:

Full sponsorship for the police academy - all tuition and fees paid for by the agency
Hired as a City of Wildwood Employee at the start of the academy program - you will be paid $15 an hour throughout the duration of the academy program
Upon successful completion of the police academy and State Law Enforcement Certification exam, you will begin the Field Training Program with our agency
Starting salary upon finishing the program will be $61,380 a year

Testing Requirements:

Physical Abilities Test - basic agility course *must finish course within 6 minutes 4 seconds*
Written Exam - basic math and reading comprehension test - *must pass exam with a minimum grade of 70%*
Oral Board Interview - interview with selected panel of command staff
