Webster Police Department
Now Accepting Applications for Full Time Police Officers
Webster has a population of 17,760 according to the 2020 Census. At the same time, the town boasts a large lake, which is a popular destination for both residents and visitors. Webster also presents some very unique opportunities for law enforcement, given the diversity of its residents.
The Webster Police Department is busy, responding to approximately 21,000 calls for service each year. We also have robust ties to our community, hosting several community engagement events throughout the year. We also promote a strong family connection and encourage all of our officers to include their family members in our community engagement and department activities.
Officers can expect to respond to and investigate a plethora of different types of calls for service. Officers can work with detectives and follow up on their investigations. The Webster Police also has three canine units and participates in the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council, where officers are involved in SWAT, Motor Units, Drones, K9, and Accident Reconstruction. We also have a Marine Patrol and officers assigned to two federal task forces: the FBI and the DEA, as well as the South Worcester County Drug and Counter Crime Task Force.
Minimum Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Must be able to get a License to Carry a Firearm in Massachusetts.
- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.

Testing Requirements:
Officers will need to pass a physical fitness test that mirrors the standards for entrance into the MPTC Recruit Officer Academy.
Hiring Process:
Applications will be reviewed. Prospective applicants will meet with the Command Staff. Officers with previous experience will be asked to participate in a series of ride-alongs with other officers. If completed, a background investigation will be conducted, and a formal interview will follow.
Entry-level officers with no experience will meet with the Command Staff, be provided an application, and have a formal interview upon completion of a background investigation.
