POLICE OFFICER APPLICANTS
Thank you for your interest in the Washington Township Police Department. In order to be eligible to meet our agencies criteria a candidate MUST meet the following minimum requirements. The Washington Township Municipal Code 27-6 mandates these requirements. There are no exceptions!
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Be between the ages of 18-35
- Have a valid New Jersey Drivers License (Required prior to employment)
- Be of good moral character
- Be a resident of New Jersey at time of appointment
- Have a minimum of either an Associate Degree from an accredited College or University, have earned at least 60 College credits from an accredited College or University or have completed three years’ active military service concluding with an honorable discharge. (All College requirements must be established by April 5, 2024). Current NJ PTC certified officers will begin at the interview phase (Phase II).
BENEFITS
- Salary ranges from $50,000-$134,000, plus holiday pay and overtime. We provide medical and dental insurance. Each officer receives vacation, sick, holiday pay, pitman time and personal time at the beginning of each year. Patrol Officers work a Pitman schedule.

Phase I. Physical Agility Examination
- The first Phase of the process will be a physical agility exam which will be held on April 7, 2024 at the Morris County Public Safety Academy located at 500 W Hanover Ave, Morristown, NJ 07960. You must bring a signed copies of all required forms- Download the "Important Information and Required Form" above to access these forms. The exam will begin on the morning of 4/7/2024. Exact times to appear will be sent to applicants on 4/5/2024. Current NJ PTC certified officers are not required to participate in the physical agility exam and will begin at Phase 2. Class1 and 2 officers, as well as out of State officers, must start at Phase 1.

Phase II. Department Oral Interview
Upon successful completion of the physical agility exam applicants will be notified via PoliceApp of the date and time for a panel interview. There will be several stages to the interview process.
