WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP POLICE

FULL TIME POLICE OFFICERS & SLEO II

The Washington Township Police Department is anticipating a 2017 testing process for the positions of Full Time Police Officer and Special Law Enforcement Officer, Class II. The process is expected to begin in February 2017.

Full Time Police Officer Eligibility Requirements:

Candidates must meet all below eligibility requirements in order to participate:

  • A citizen of the United States and a resident of New Jersey, and is the holder of a valid New Jersey driver’s license.
  • Meet one of the below eligibility requirements in order to participate:
    • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent of 120 credits from an accredited college or university, or;
    • have at least two (2) years prior experience as a full‐time "sworn" law enforcement officer and sixty(60) credits from an accredited college or university, or;
    • have four (4) or more years prior experience as a full‐time "sworn" law enforcement officer andthirty (30) credits from an accredited college or university, or;
    • be a SLEO II with the Washington Township Police Department and have sixty (60) credits from an accredited college or university, or;
    • have been honorably discharged from four (4) or more years of active military service and sixty (60) credits from an accredited college or university, or;
    • currently serving in the military with at least four (4) years since enlistment date and is in good standing and sixty (60) credits from an accredited college or university.

SLEO II Eligibility Requirements:

Candidates must:

  • Be a citizen of the United States and a resident of New Jersey
  • A holder of a valid New Jersey driver’s license. 
  • Meet one of the below eligibility requirements in order to participate:
      • Candidates for SLEO positions must have sixty (60) credits from an accredited college or university, or; 
      • Have thirty (30) college credits from an accredited college or university, and current New Jersey Police Training Commission Certification at the appropriate SLEO level, or;
      • Have been honorably discharged from 2 or more years of active military service or is currently serving with at least two (2) or more years since enlistment date and is in good standing and currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, or;
      • Are over 35 years old and not aspiring to become full-time officers.
