Job Title:                               Warrants Clerk

Pay Range:                            $35,797 to $51,172 annually (based on experience)

General Description:

Clerical work in processing, entering, and issuing incoming and outgoing local and out-of-county warrants summons, executions, withdrawals, and capias.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Reviews and checks warrants, summons, executions, withdrawals, and capias entered in computer.
  • Researches entries into FCIC/NCIC.  Operates teletype and answers confirmations.
  • Researches and completes warrant printouts, confirming information prior to filing.
  • Checks court dockets for persons showing against active warrants.  Reviews court disposition papers to withdraw active warrants where indicated.
  • Enters warrants and capias into computer.
  • Process other documents in reference to pickup and request from other counties and states in regard to person with active warrants.
  • Breakdown warrant folders when bond information is received.  Completes reports and statistical information.
  • Conducts self in a courteous and professional manner to the general public and fellow coworkers.
  • Other duties as assigned by Administrative Supervisors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:

  • Knowledge of paperwork pertaining to the service of subpoenas, court orders, and civil papers.
  • Knowledge of court practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of warrant procedures and processing.
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to learn assigned clerical tasks readily and to adhere to prescribed routines. Ability to work with a variety of people and agencies. 
  • Ability to perform data entry and operate a personal computer.
  • Knowledge of business English, spelling, and arithmetic.
  • Ability to search for data and to work under pressure while providing accurate, detailed information.
  • Ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written directions.
  • Skill in the operation of general office equipment.

 

Education And Experience:

  • High school graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.  At least one (1) year of experience in general office work.

 

(A comparable amount of training, education, or experience can be substituted for the minimum qualifications.)

 

Licenses, Certifications, Or Registrations:

  • Must be able to obtain FCIC/NCIC certification after employment, if not currently certified. 

 

Essential Physical Skills:

  • Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer
  • Ability to sit at a desk and view a display screen for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in written communication
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 15 pounds (light) and 45 pounds (heavy)
