Borough of Wallington is a square mile municipality with nearly 12,000 residents. Wallington Police Department handles over 16,000 calls for service annually, serving a very diverse population that is several miles west of New York City and close proximity to major entertainment facilities.

The Wallington Police Department seeks Police Officer candidates to safeguard a densely populated, culturally diverse borough with a prominent Eastern European immigrant community. Wallington is one of the most densely populated communities in the United States.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Age: 18 to 35 years old at the time of application closing. Veterans may have time spent in active military service deducted from their attained age.
  • Citizenship: Must be a United States citizen.
  • Education: High School or Vocational High School graduate, or possession of an approved high school equivalent certificate.
  • License: A driver's license valid in New Jersey at the time of appointment.

Job Description/General Duties:

  • Patrolling: Conducting patrols on foot or in an automobile within a designated jurisdiction.
  • Enforcement: Enforcing local and state laws, ordinances, and motor vehicle regulations.
  • Emergency Response: Responding to calls for service, accidents, and emergencies.
  • Investigation: Securing crime scenes, interviewing witnesses, and collecting evidence.
  • Reporting: Writing clear, accurate reports and maintaining essential departmental records.
  • Court Testimony: Providing sworn testimony in municipal and superior courts.
  • Community Relations: Assisting the public, providing information, and maintaining positive community interactions
