Spring Township Police Department (Centre County)

FULL-TIME POLICE OFFICER

The Spring Township Police Department (Centre County) is accepting applications for a full-time police officer. Applicants wishing to participate in the hiring process will first participate in the written exam. 

The total fee to apply and participate in the written exam is $50.00.  The deadline for applications is September 03, 2021 @ 5:00 pm. Applications are to be submitted online via www.PoliceApp.com/SpringTwpPA. The written test will be held on September 10, 2021 @ 5:00 pm at the Central Pennsylvania Institute, located in Pleasant Gap, PA.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

• In addition to passing the written exam, the selected candidate will also be required to complete a successful oral interview and background investigation.
• Must be a US Citizen and at least 21 years of age.
• Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle operator’s license.
• Must be Act 120 certified and/or have Act 120 certification by anticipated hire date.
• Must pass a physical and psychological exam and drug screening.
• Must not have any disqualifying criminal convictions, as defined by MPOETC.
• Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Must be able to work a 10-hour shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
• Position will require employee to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations and to determine proper courses of action.

Spring Township is in Centre County, PA.  The Township consists of 27 square miles and has a population of approximately 8,200 residents.  Spring Township is rated in the top 10 safest cities in PA.

The probationary pay for an entry-level police officer for 2021 is $51,000.  All persons hired will start as probationary officers regardless of experience. The pay scale for a Spring Township patrolman with 1-5 years of service is $54,288.34 - $77,125.38 in 2021.  The Spring Township Police Department also offers a competitive benefits package and police pension.
