JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under the immediate direction of a Security Supervisor, or other University Police personnel as directed, performs a wide variety of security and parking functions to ensure the safety of persons, protect property, maintain order and enforce the rules and regulations of the University. Dependent upon assignment, observes, recognizes and reports conditions that adversely affect public safety or University policy. Issues written Security Failure Notices and University Parking Summonses.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Previous security/parking enforcement experience preferred. High school graduate preferred. Requires valid driver's license, two years of driving experience and successful completion of the Rutgers Defensive Driving Course. Requires ability to effectively communicate in English, both in writing and via two way radio. Also requires the ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time. Mandatory overtime required as necessary. Must be able to successfully complete the NJ CUPSA Basic Security Officer Training Class and maintain applicable certification as required. In accordance with New Jersey State law, applicants must agree to undergo and authorize the university to conduct fingerprint, criminal history and/or child abuse record checks with various law enforcement agencies, including but not limited to: the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Identification Division and/or the New Jersey Division of State Police, Bureau of Identification. Applicants must also assume any costs incurred by the university associated with the background investigations whether required by statute or not. Any criminal record will affect consideration of a candidate's application.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
There are 7 vacancies available; previous security experience in a college setting and CPR & AED certificaiton preferred; shifts may include weekends and evenings. The finalists for this position will be subject to a background investigation.
