ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
North Haven is a remarkable business and residential community with much to offer. We are centrally located with easy access to the Interstate and Merritt Parkway, making it a desirable location for families and businesses. With one of the lowest mill rates in New Haven county, North Haven still manages to deliver top notch services to its residents.
The North Haven Public School District consists of 6 schools, 4 elementary schools, a middle school and a high school. The 4 elementary schools are: Clintonville Elementary School (located at 456 Clintonville Road), Green Acres Elementary School (located at 146 Upper State Street), Montowese Elementary School (located at 145 Fitch Street) and Ridge Road Elementary School (located at 1341 Ridge Road). The North Haven Middle School is located at 55 Bailey Road, and is adjacent to The North Haven High School, located at 221 Elm Street.
North Haven has nearly 200 acres of park land and other open space areas, including: 18 ball fields, 15 tennis and basketball courts, 7 playgrounds, and 8 passive or natural areas. Some of the Town's critical open spaces include Peter's Rock, Hansen Park and Spring Road. Affiliated sports league games and special events are held at the various Town Parks. The North Haven Parks are an integral part of our community.
Today, few sizable tracts of residentially zoned real property exist, as the Town has invested in open space land acquisitions during the past decade. These purchases have kept the home inventory at a virtually constant level, while the demand for residences is very high due to the Town's location, tax rate, services and programs, economy and school system. North Haven is proud to have been included in Money Magazine's top 100 places to live in the USA in 2007
